Congrats to the Cloud Software Group on completing its acquistion of Arctera!
I first started helping organizations with enterprise-grade backup solutions that were rightsized for smaller environments over 30 years ago. Back then, I was also deploying Citrix for managed desktops, which could be an interesting better together stack for disaster recovery and cyber resilience through MSPs that are offering DRaaS.
There’s also some potential synergies around Data Governance when looking at the visualization and reporting aspects of the CSG portfolio. Congrats and best wishes to my friends at Arctera.

Congratulations to the Cloud Software Group for completing its acquisition of Arctera
I first started helping small and mid-size businesses to gain enterprise IT capabilities in a way that were rightsized for them over 30 years ago
- Back then, Backup Exec was already a mainstream solution. In fact, I still have a Seagate Software box of it just in case I ever joined the cool kids at BE and wanted bragging rights.
- Back then, I was also deploying Citrix to deliver managed desktops; something they’re still doing today under the banner of “Securing the work environment” which is actually an interesting augmentation under the threat of cyber-attacks.
When you’re a hammer everything looks like a nail.
When you’re a disaster recovery and cyber resilience industry analyst, technology mergers and partnerships look like “Better Together” opportunities. In this case, I’m hoping we’ll see Citrix stand up clean desktops into either your disaster recovery site or into your clean room for forensics or more rapid remediation.
Other backup solutions should also be thinking about where Citrix and VDI ought to be part of their remediation and resilience strategies, but with the CSG acquisition, it would be neat to see Arctera leverage their new siblings in the portfolio.
Congrats again to all my friends at Arctera on their new chapter.
