As part of its Catalyst 1 Data Summit, Cohesity announced their “Five Steps to Cyber Resilience” and specifically draws out the critical importance of “Practice“, which can’t be done without orchestrated workflows. Hence, the Cohesity Recovery Agent.

video transcript
If you’ve followed my viewpoints on authentic business continuity and disaster recovery (BC/DR) which today is often lumped into IT, data, and cyber resilience … then you know that the undervalued hero in most recovery scenarios is orchestration.
The key tenants of the Cohesity Recovery Agent (CRA) announcement were:
- Automated Recovery Orchestration — Customizable workflows for your unique recovery goals and compliance requirements
- Flexible Lifecycle Management — Reduce operational overhead with reusable operational flows
- Threat Aware Workflows — Automatically detect malware before you recover
- Rehearsals for Compliance Readiness — Test recovery workflows to reduce the chance of data loss and prove your data can be recovered
First and foremost, it demonstrates that Cohesity recognizes the importance of (1) orchestration, (2) reduced operational burden, (3) integrating cleanliness into restorations as part of cyber remediation, and (4) if you aren’t practicing, you aren’t prepared.
But as part of today’s overarching theme, it also highlights three key elements coming together as part of Cohesity’s cyber resilience offering:
- Veritas’ NBU’s mature engineering and orchestration capabilities that were honed within large enterprises
- Cohesity’s approach to AI-enabled capabilities that have strong outcome potential
- The integration of detection technologies as part of cyber remediation
This was evidently important enough that there was a whole breakout session during the Catalyst event, which I imagine was standing room only during the in-person venues and was very chatter-active in the virtual event.
You can read the rest of the announcements as part of the Cohesity Press Release.
