Maybe we should be less afraid of Bots that act Human … and more concerned about Humans that act like Bots?
transcription
2024 seemed to be the year that everyone started talking about AI:
- Some were worried about AI replacing their jobs.
- Some were worried that AI was going to turn into Skynet and the machines were going to take over. That’s not true yet but candidly there are probably some days that the machines would do a better job than us. Just saying.
- And some were really concerned as AI and robots are becoming increasingly human like – between deep fake videos, AI generated art, and chat bots that really feel like you’re interacting with a human. All of those are legitimate concerns and there are some shady sides to “robots that act human.”
But candidly, a bigger risk is … humans that act like robots.
I bet almost everyone who heard that phrase immediately thought of someone that you interact with. That person who has been programmed by the rules and must follow the rules and circumstances in all cases.
If you just heard that and were, in some small way, offended, let me just encourage you … by reminding you … you are not a robot.
At work, if you carry words like manager supervisor director that probably means that you were placed in your role based on your judgment not just your ability to execute tasks. Yes every organization has rules and policies that should be followed but organizations are made-up of humans (not robots) and thus we should be thinking about outcomes and not afraid to occasionally ask (to clarify, revalidate, or reconsider) why we have the processes that we do.
Yeah there will be a day when adaptive reasoning will likely be done predominantly by Skynet or the Matrix, but until then, there are more than enough robots and AI in the world that will follow the explicit directives of how they were programmed.
Don’t be a bot — be a human — be a good and thinking human;
We will continue to get more bots; we need more good humans.
Don’t forget to click a like button or if you have some bots in your world, repost this so they can remember to be more than just part of the machine.
See you next Monday
