Last year I offered a “Gratefulness Challenge” for February, which I hope you’ll consider joining me on this year.
It’s easy to wake up on hard days and cold days or whatever you’re going through and immediately gets stuck in what’s wrong. It is a little harder to do that if one of your first mental activities of the day is to write down something that you’re grateful for. And since this is year 2 of our challenge, let’s write down two things: 1) one related to your job and 2) one that isn’t. Will you join me?

Welcome to a special episode of two-minute Mondays that does not show up on Monday because the 1st of February is not a Monday and I have something I want to challenge you with for the shortest month of the year.
This time last year I offered a gratefulness challenge which I hope you’ll consider joining me on this year. I’ll leave a link to last year’s video as well, but here’s the idea:
It’s easy to wake up on hard days and cold days or whatever you’re going through and immediately gets stuck in what’s wrong. It is harder to do that if one of your first mental exercises of the day is to write down something that you’re grateful for.
And since this is year 2 of our challenge, let’s write down two things:
JUST two things you’re grateful for:
- One related to your job
- and one that isn’t
For the next 28 days, you’re not allowed to reuse anything that you’ve already written down.
That means on February 13th, you’ll have written down 26 different things that you’re grateful for and my guess is as you start to write them down your eye will occasionally wander up and see what you wrote the days before because you got to make sure you can’t repeat it.
My other guess is that by February 27th, no matter how hard that particular morning is, when you browse up and see 54 unique things that you’re grateful for, it’s going to be really hard to have a tough day. Not impossible: but you can have to want it.
If you’re willing to try this gratefulness challenge, please click like or leave a comment below to let me know you’re going to try it too. Then, on your own, just write down two (or one) things per day that you are grateful for and then see how the rest of your day goes from there.
And if others would benefit from the gratefulness challenge, please consider reposting – maybe tag them that you want to do it with them.
To get us started, here’s my first day:
- At work, I’m grateful that my company continues to give me new challenges that align to my passions and aspirations.
- Outside of work, I’m grateful for all of you … and your comments and encouragements on these posts … especially when we meet in person. Thank you!
There you go; that’s for February 1. Will you join me in this gratefulness challenge?
Either way I’ll see you next Monday
