Think about this: you can count the number of seeds that will come from an apple, but you cannot count the number of apples that will come from one seed. That’s what leadership impact looks like.
Transcript
Did you know that you can predict the number of seeds that will come from an apple?
- An apple core has between 3 to 5 chambers
- Each chamber can produce 1 or 2 seeds
- Therefore, an apple produces between 3 and 10 seeds.
Think about this:
- You can count the number of seeds that will come from one apple
- You cannot count the number of apples that will come from one seed
If you’re a leader, then you’re the apple – and those seeds are your potential impact.
- The apple has limited and variable number of seeds that it produces … similarly,
- You have a limited and variable amount of energy and focus that you can provide as a leader.
- Some seeds will fall on hard ground = nothing happens
- Some seeds will be basic nutrients = one-time, short-term gain
- But every once in a while, some seeds land on fertile soil … and they grow into apple trees .. and each tree produces more apples (more leaders).
So now you have some choices to make – starting with, if you have a limited number of seeds … then where are you gonna plant yours?
- Cuz the trees from those seeds …
- will make more apples …
- and since each of them are leaders …
- they will collectively produce more impact than you could have alone
That’s what a leader’s impact ought to look like.
I’ve got a few more ideas about apples and leaders; but that’ll be next week.
See you next Monday
