In terms of impact to the business, this report identified that 45% of production data was encrypted or affected during a ransomware attack. And the numbers are getting even worse from earlier research that was done just nine months ago. Taking a further look at these trends globally and by respondent roles, the 2023 Ransomware Trends Report sheds light on this threat to businesses and their ability to recover from ransomware. Covered in this report are topics on data impact, ability to recover and recovery timelines that are specific to:

• How much data was affected by the cyberattack?
• Were you able to recover your backups?
• What was the remediation/recovery timeframe?

Organizations run the risk of losing one third of their data, meaning just 66% of product data is recoverable after a cyberattack. But the question still remains: What part of production data is an organization willing to lose? Considering recovery time, it takes an average of 24 days to regain a foothold on the organizations’ production data after every attack. Not many businesses can run the risk of limited to no access to the information that runs their day-to-day operations.
